Save Money by Buying a Quality Water Heater
When buying a new water heater with the intention of replacing an old one, be sure to buy a water heater model that will be more efficient than your old water heater was. Newer models of water heaters, due to advances in technology, are inherently more efficient than previous generations. However, there are differences between condensing and non-condensing water heaters.
Condensing water heaters usually use gas as an energy source. They achieve great efficiency because they condense water vapor, which is used for additional heating of water, so gas consumption is greatly reduced. Since the heat contained in the water vapor is not thrown out, this means that all the energy used will be retained in the water heater, and therefore its efficiency will be much higher. Such water heaters are considered much safer than non-condensing water heaters.
Non-condensing water heaters expel all the water vapor that is created during heating, so that a large amount of heat is lost there, and in addition, it is necessary to install a system for draining that water vapor. That is why the installation of such a water heater is much more expensive.
If you know the fact that condensing water heaters have an efficiency of 99%, and non-condensing water heaters have an efficiency of only 78%, it will not be difficult for you to decide when the seller asks you whether you want a non-condensing or condensing water heater. By purchasing a quality water heater, even though it is currently a more expensive option, in the long run, you will save a lot of money.
